Homelands is a three-part series dedicated to the village, the city and the metropolis that make my life experience.
This is that city.
Born in Italy to an Italian dad and a Czech mum, I grew up in Bologna spending my child holidays in Czech republic.
Since 2006 I have been living in London. During this period the time I spent in Italy and Czech Republic has evened up giving the two places the same prominence.
I now experience Bologna with a sort of anthropological mindset finding interests in the daily activities of an ageing population and in the non-descriptive neighbourhood I was raised in.
Italy is the country I left and that keeps drifting further away.
These images are the result of a distance that, over time, I unwillingly created between myself and my roots.
