Homelands: #3
Homelands is a three-part series dedicated to the village, the city and the metropolis that make my life experience.
This is that metropolis.
Born in Italy to an Italian-Czech family, since 2006 I have been living in London spending way more time here than in the other two places. In the last years London - despite all its mess and its diversity - has actually shrank in my eyes.
All the way through the lockdown and then after, the metropolis became circumscribed to a specific area in the North-East that is now the theatre of the majority of my activities.
UK is the country I live in and that I fail to embrace.
It shares with Czech Republic and Italy a sense of non-belonging or, possibly, my inability to feel completely part of it.
